The Early History of Sunset Bodies Gym
Greetings, and we hope you're enjoying your week!
Our cover image is from the late development cycle of the Gabrielle Bey character. We're going to continue to share more about the design process and early development, character tests, and writing in future Dev Logs.
Sunset Bodies began development in January 2020 as a short form drama scripted for traditional media . The spec-script was highlighting the boom of gym-culture on social media and the unique celebrity some trainers enjoy. As of February 2020 travel was shutting down and all of our non-adult projects were shelved for later. Then the script languished in an uncertain world until mid-2020 when an artist was sourced. After some issues with early test renders and artists we reached out to someone we knew well for the character designs. It was the decision of Scrambled Channel Games to delay the release of Sunset Bodies until the world was returning, closer, to normal. Early designs had characters wearing masks, location changes, & even the realistic idea that Gyms had closed.
